Ricardo Castillo

Born in San Juan Ostuncalco, Quetzaltenango on October 1, 1891, died in Guatemala City on May 27, 1966. One of the glories of the music of the twentieth century Guatemalan RICARDO CASTILLO, influenced by the currents of the Enlightenment in Guatemala was the first to create works of impressionist trend coming to this part of the exponents of the most modern music Guatemala.

He was also one of the first musicians to travel abroad, after studying at the National Conservatory of Music he moved to Paris where he studied harmony, counterpoint, composition and violin flight, where he met the pianist eximia Georgette with whom Contoux Quanta married, then both taught at the Conservatory.

Some of his works are music for piano and orchestral works a few high-identity as Maya Ballet Paal Kaba, Fiesta, Prints, and Tikal Stelae Xibalba, as well Two Leak, Homage to Ravel and Sinfonietta.

Among his latest works include Snapshots Plásticas premiered in 1968, and another abstraction Tribute to Ravel for violin and piano consists of two sections of prelude minuet and premiered in 1960 by the violinist Carlos Ciudad Real Ciudad Real with Rachel.
