Paco Pérez
Composer, singer and guitarist was a Guatemalan Francisco Perez Munoz, the son of Spanish Jose Perez and Luz Munoz, was born in Huehuetenango on April 25, 1917, where he learned his first letters in the school “Aurora”.
In 1927 he moved with his family to Quetzaltenango, where he had several performances as a singer and declaim. Later, with Manolo Rosales and Jose Luis Alvarez formed the trio “Quetzalteco”, which was consecrated as a great singer.
In 1944 competitions in the Capitol Theater in the capital of Guatemala, obtaining the 3rd. place with his song “Luna Xelaju,” which soon became popular inside and outside the country.
Paco Peréz worked as an officer tried 2o. of First Instance in Quetzaltenango, until 1944 when work began on the National Radio TWG, where he created the comic character “Ciriaco Cintura” on the agenda of the “Tremenda Corte”. He was also an important character in the comedy “Un loteriazo en plena crisis” and acted in the national film “The Sombrerón.”
In addition to “Luna de Xelajú” let the songs “Tzanjuyu”, “Azabia”, “Nenita”, “Madrecita”, “Arrepetimiento”, “Patoja Linda” and “Chichicastenango”; died in the plane crash that also took other Guatemalan artists the October 27, 1951.
