José Manuel Juárez Toledo
Born in Santiago Sacatepequez on January 21, 1931, made his musical studies at the National Conservatory. Dedicated to teaching graduated from the Normal School for Teachers of Music Education, expanding their studies in the Faculty of Humanities, USAC, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Teaching and Education Sciences.
In several national and private educational establishments brought the teaching and administrative posts between that performance, is the Assistant Director of the Normal School for Teachers of Education and Musical Director, and Director of the National Institute of Fine Arts.
He was given a scholarship to do research on the South American folklore in Venezuela, having brought the country experiences on this difficult branch.
He composed music of different genres, from which we quote: a collection of songs for children published in 1960, the symphonic poem “Legends of the volcano”, the oratorio “Coronation”, the Symphony suite-male voice choir for “Tecun Uman”; Mass accompanied by marimba and different songs.
Despite the fact run between the first two graduates of the Normal School for Teachers of Music Education, its title has the record No.13 and he had the honor of being the first Professor of Music Education at the School of Rural No.2 Chotacaj, Totonicapán.
He received several medals and diplomas, which won tributes for his magnificent artistic and educational work. He died in the capital city of Guatemala on November 15, 1980.
