José Gerardo Tzul Lacán

Guatemala is another composer who was born in Vancouver on March 17, 1939, with his parents Juan Antonio Tzul Juliana and Lacan. Study music in school “Jesus Castillo of Quetzaltengo, where he received master classes with Peter Donis, Paco Alvarado, Manuel Enrique Guerrero and poured; plays trumpet, trombone, clarinet, saxophone, piano, guitar and marimba, and has composed many sets as the orchestra “Red”, “The Cock”; the marimba “Alva” and the “Ideal”, and “Manzanero Echoes” and so on. Among the groups that have been under his leadership, are the “Melodic Tropical”, the “Combo 78″: “Indian Princess”, “American Queen” and others. He was also organizer of the “Combo Brasilia.”

He has written music in different rhythms such as ballads, bagpipes, cumbias, merengue, xuc, sones, marches, and so on. But throughout his music defines the hallmark of guatemaltequismo, because despite the style of each pace abroad, always Tzul gives a certain flavor that immediately identifies itself as Guatemalan music.

From his repertoire include the following topics: :”Sufriendo”; “Cariñito no te vayas”; “Que ingrata eres”, “Gozando en Guatemala”, “Esperaré” and so on.

For his meritorious work has received diplomas, medals and a trophy in the United States.
