José Alejandro de León

Born in Quetzaltenango on March 10, 1912, was one of the Guatemalan composers whose music has reached a very important place, both at home and abroad since he left compositions very different rhythms liked by the public.

He was an active member of the AGAYC, the entity which was also Chairman; musical compositions among which are: “Regalito de amor”; “Los autobuses”; “La polka de mamá”; “La polka de la abuelita”; “El enfrascade”; “Quetzaltenango”; “15 de Septiembre”; “Villa Nueva”, and so on.

For his work was worthy of several tributes and diplomas, a trophy and the silver disc DIDECA. He died on March 11, 1978 in Guatemala City.
