César Augusto Gálvez

Marimbista, trumpet player, arranger and composer, was born in Guatemala City on May 17, 1948, son of Bernardo Galvez and Marta Navas. Czech, as they call it in show business, he studied at the top with his father and Secor after he entered the National Conservatory, where, despite not having completed the race, gained solid knowledge that enabled him to replace his parent from the day of his death in 1968, in which it owned and ran marimba, which is why he saw it clear to interrupt their studies because it required the commitment of its permanent presence in the set. The address of the marimba INDIA MAYA has given many satisfactions and has provided the necessary means of subsistence.

He has traveled through Mexico, Central American countries and several U.S. states, where he has reaped the most notorious wins and put the name of Guatemala in very high sitial.

During his time student at the Conservatory joined the chorus led by Dr. Felipe de Jesus Ortega and the student orchestra. He received lessons with teachers Alfonso Colindres, Oscar Barrientos, Victor M. Jorge de la Cerda and Alvaro Sarmiento.

He has recorded lots of music composers of both domestic and foreigners and has earned multiple awards: diplomas, medals, trophies, the Silver Disco, the Disco de Oro, the Marimba Gold, Silver Lady and many more. His marimba orchestra INDIA-MAYA, is considered one of the best interpreters of tropical music. Has three brothers and, like him, all have dedicated to the art of music.

In his compositions we would mention: “The bacilli,” “The ball from Jaime”, “My Carcachita” “Jealousy”, “Flowers for Mom,” “The Toast” and so on.
