Baja Verapaz has 8 municipalities, which are described below

Rabinal
Located in the western portion of the department of Baja Verapaz and settled on the valley Urrán. Rabinal has a land area of 504 km², a height of 982 m above sea level and its population is 20, 771 inhabitants. Fray Bartolomé de las Casas and Fray Pedro de Angulo founded the town of Rabinal.

Santa cruz El Chol
It has a length of 140 km², a height of 1008m above sea level and its population is 12, 127 inhabitants. It was founded in the eighteenth century.

St. Jerome
It is located in the Sierra de las Minas, has a length of 464 km² and a height of 990 M above sea level. Its population is 19, 153 inhabitants, being mostly direct descendants of indigenous Quichés.

Purulhá:
It has a land area of 248 km², a height of 1, 737 m above sea level, and its population is 19, 040 inhabitants.

Granados
Have a height of 954 m above sea level. Its territorial extension is 248 km² and its population is 26, 898 inhabitants. It is an agricultural village.

San Miguel Chicaj
It has an area of approximately 300 km², a height of 940 m above sea level and its population is 13, 427 inhabitants, mostly engaged in agriculture, ceramics and the development of tissues and objects of rigging.

Cubulco
Its territorial extension is 444 km², has a height of 990 M above sea level and a population of 20, 355 inhabitants with approximately 68% of indigenous population groups and quiches achis.

Salamá
It has a land area of 776 km², a height of 960 m above sea level, warm climate and its population is 31, 818 inhabitants. In Quiche, Salamá means Rio de table or tables on water. In an era, a poet called him Sultana of roses in the valley of peace.
