This is the best preserved biological corridor and the reserve richest biodiversity in Guatemala, as a transitional zone. It is made up of a mountain range with elevations ranging from 150 to 3000 meters above sea level, steep hills covered with a vast cloak of vegetation, punctuated by torrents of water that spring from the mountains, here is a wide variety of types of forests, cloud, coniferous, rainy, thorny, very old forests, full of life. 70% of all species of vertebrates are registered in Guatemala in the Sierra de las Minas, so it is of great importance for the great diversity of ecosystems and species that are found there.

Recently, studies have shown the presence of species that have not yet been identified or registered. These mountains are so steep that in certain parts, never walked anyone. From the variety of its inaccessibility and is its great wealth. There’s a lot of mountains that is not yet known because much of its territory has not even been visited by scientists. You can find variety of trees: cedar, oak, liquidambar and variety of pines. These forests are the natural refuge for large mammals: jaguars, cougars, deer and birds such as the quetzal, pájuil and harpy eagle.
For visitors who want to reach for their media, there are two places accessible: Chilascó and Los Albores .
