Brief Historical Overview of all marimbistico “Chapin wings” of the Guatemalan Air Force

In the early months of the year 1963, at the initiative of the then Commander of the Guatemalan Air Force, Colonel Aviation Pilot Aviator Manuel Octavio Zea Carrascosa, start applications and coordination to create a set marimbistico representing nobility and love for the nationality of members of the Guatemalan military aviation. Over the 43 years, the emotional notes of our indigenous instrument have flooded the most diverse environments throughout the national territory, carrying the message of brotherly “Knights of the Air” to the most remote corners of our country. Alike have made presentations in friendly nations such as Colombia, Venezuela, Central America, Puerto Rico, Mexico and several American states.
Among the most distinguished directors who had the Marimba “Alas Chapin” We can mention the following teachers: its founder Pastor Gabriel remembered Mencos, Jose Galvez Adolfo Gaitan, Julio Meneses Ventura Hernandez and current director Edgar Ramirez Felipe Ortiz.
On August 17 this year, in response to the invitation rotated by the Guatemalan Fraternity in Washington DC, United States of americas, with the wholehearted support of the current Minister of National Defense, Major General Francisco Bermudez Amado, our whole marimbistico travel to Washington DC where it will remain until September 18, namely 31 days fulfilling diversity of presentations especially before our Guatemalan brothers living in that city, which undoubtedly not only grateful to God evoca, imperecederos memories of his past, but to reaffirm their vows for peace and integral development of Guatemala.
His departure members of the Marimba “Chapin Wings” received an emotional farewell from Brigadier General Jose Efrain Rodriguez Giron, who in laudatory speech on behalf of the entire Guatemalan warplanes wished them success in their tour and a happy return to Guatemala , With a special thanks to the fraternity in Washington and the Guatemalan Ministry of National Defense of our country.
